AlignScan / Align PLY
Tool
Align a PLY file online
Drop a .ply scan into AlignScan and it is squared to the X, Y and Z axes automatically. Everything happens in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
What happens to your PLY
- Read locally. The file is parsed in a background thread of your browser. Large scans (100 MB and millions of triangles) are fine.
- Measured, not guessed. Flat faces, cylinder axes and symmetry are found by fitting planes through the mesh, then the smallest rotation that squares them to the axes is applied.
- Exported unchanged otherwise. ASCII and binary PLY (little or big endian) are edited in place, so colours, faces and every other property are left exactly as they were.
Made for PLY scans
- Pick Z-up or Y-up for the next tool, and recenter by bounding box or centroid.
- See exactly which faces were locked, with the applied rotation in degrees.
- Fix anything the automatic pass got wrong with Manual mode: click a face, snap it to an axis or the floor.
- Undo and redo every step.
